What makes us happy? Money, success, possessions? Over the last 20+ years I have chased these three things in an attempt to make myself and my family happy; never feeling that any of it is enough and feeling dejected and disappointed with myself. I've asked my self "what's the point of life if I cant even make myself happy and satisfied with the one I have" over and over again. Why aren't shopping sprees making me feel happy? Why isn't having money and all these nice things doing the job?
I've recently been reading about minimalism and how it can actually change your life. Minimalism isn't just about the house you live in, its about your entire life. Minimalize your circle of (so called) friends, the technology you use to get through life, your possessions (this is a big one for us) and your headspace! You can literally minimalize your entire life; learn to say no, have a "no-buy" month, and accept crap from nobody because these people have no place in your life, if they cannot respect your non-crap taking new self!
I am about to set out on a journey with my partner (and our children to a certain extent) to simply, simplify our lives. We have just enough money to get by in life but we would love to travel and show ourselves and the children the world.
Here begins our journey, we are selling or giving away everything we don't NEED or doesn't make us HAPPY!
My next post will be Day 1......
